Our
Native American Elders have always taught that all decisions should
be considered in the light of the next seven generations. This consideration
for our future is steeped in the tradition of always considering what
you leave behind is instrumental for the complexities of the future.
Simply put, leave the world a better place than you found it.
The Children’s Fire is a workshop experience that teaches us
how to “mull over” or determine the best possible outcome
as an answer to our quandary. This is applicable for all problems
and life considerations.
The Children’s Fire is an interactive exercise that uses the
intuitive talents of all of the participants. The Children’s
Fire begins with a Medicine Wheel. This wheel is actually comprised
of workshop participants working various characterizations, such as
“The Heyoka”, “The Shaman”, “The Politician
and “The Warrior”. Also included is the presence of the
Grand Mother and Grand Father then concludes with the Children’s
Fire.
Participants individually enter the Medicine Wheel and present their
question to each “entity” and, after completion of the
wheel, are encouraged to relay their decision. The workshop participants
will exchange roles to as well as be the one asking their question.
The Children’s Fire is a very powerful ceremony and, over the
years, it has brought new insight to participants on how to carefully
make decisions. Also, for those that assume the roles within the Medicine
Circle – it brings a new knowledge on examining how to assist
people in making those decisions.
